My favorite lounge in America.
The Centurion Lounge at Salt Lake City Airport (SLC) lounge guide
My husband and I have been to a lot of airport lounges.
This one broke the scale.
The Centurion Lounge at Salt Lake City opened in October 2025 in Concourse B, and it immediately became our favorite lounge in the entire country.
We’re not exaggerating — we now route ourselves through SLC specifically so we can have a layover here.
It feels like walking into an upscale ski lodge in Park City, not an airport terminal.
The food is by four James Beard Award-winning chefs — we’re talking prosciutto-wrapped asparagus with balsamic glaze, mirin sambal marinated olives, and a local Slide Ridge honey duo.
The cocktails are crafted by Harrison Ginsberg of Overstory in NYC. I got the Platinum Mule — bourbon, ginger, Japanese plum — and it was one of the best drinks I’ve had in an airport. Period.
There’s a hearth room with a 360-degree fireplace, a year-round outdoor terrace with Wasatch Mountain views, phone nooks, workspaces, a Blue Roast coffee bar with a real barista, and even massage chairs.
Whatever your mood — working, relaxing, drinking — they’ve got a spot for you.
The Centurion Lounge, Salt Lake City (SLC) Airport lounge guide
Location
The Centurion Lounge is located in Concourse B at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), near gate B31. You'll take the escalators up to Concourse B and see the branded entryway right there — it's directly to the left of the 30-foot-long dinosaur fossil (you can't miss it). The lounge opened on October 28, 2025, making it SLC's first credit card-branded lounge and one of the largest in the Centurion network at nearly 18,000 square feet.
Review & Overall Experience
Overall Rating: 10 / 10
Anecdotal Thoughts: This is our favorite lounge in the United States — full stop. My husband and I literally route our flights through Salt Lake City just so we can spend our layover here. It feels less like an airport lounge and more like you just walked into a private ski lodge in Park City. The food is chef-driven, the cocktails are craft-bar quality, and the staff treats you like a regular at their favorite restaurant. Zero complaints.
Ambiance: Warm, earthy tones inspired by Utah's natural landscape. Think mountain lodge meets upscale cocktail bar — soaring ceilings, natural light, and a 360-degree fireplace anchoring the hearth room. The design team clearly drew from the Wasatch Mountains and open desert skies, and it shows in every corner.
Cleanliness: Spotless. Everything from the buffet displays to the restrooms and shower suite was immaculately maintained.
Service: Next-level. Waiters come directly to your seat to take drink orders. Our server was absolutely incredible — attentive without hovering, genuinely knowledgeable about the cocktail menu, and made the whole experience feel personal. If you go, ask for him.
Comfort: Whatever your mood, there's a spot for you. Need to take a work call? Private phone nooks. Want to sit by the fire and pretend you're après-ski? Done. Traveling with kids? There's space for that. Want a massage? They have reclining chairs with massage boots. Want to sit outside? Year-round heated terrace with mountain views.
Crowding Level: The lounge accommodates about 350 guests across nearly 18,000 square feet, so even when it's busy, it never feels cramped. There are enough distinct zones — hearth room, terrace, main lounge, workspaces — that you can always find a quiet corner.
Access Requirements
How did I get in?
My husband's American Express Platinum Card. You just need the card and a same-day boarding pass — doesn't matter which airline you're flying.
How can you access the lounge?
- The Platinum Card® from American Express — complimentary access with a same-day boarding pass
- The Business Platinum Card® from American Express — same deal, complimentary access
- American Express Centurion Card — complimentary access
- Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card — access when flying on a same-day Delta-operated or Delta-marketed flight
Guest Policy: Platinum and Business Platinum cardholders can bring guests for free after spending $75,000+ in a calendar year. Otherwise, it's $50 per adult guest and $30 per child (ages 2–17). Kids under 2 are free with proof of age.
Hours: Open daily from 4:45 a.m. to 11:15 p.m.
Amenities
- Hearth Room — a stunning lounge area anchored by a 360-degree fireplace, with leather seating that makes you feel like you're in a mountain cabin
- Year-round outdoor terrace — heated with ceiling-mounted lamps, with views of the Wasatch Mountains and a terrace fireplace
- Blue Roast coffee bar — a dedicated barista station with espresso drinks, cold brew, and rotating seasonal specialties (it feels like a standalone specialty coffee shop)
- Private phone nooks — soundproofed spaces for work calls or just a moment of quiet
- Workspaces — first come, first served desks with power outlets and high-speed Wi-Fi
- Shower suite — full restroom and shower for freshening up between flights
- Massage room — a multipurpose room with three reclining chairs equipped with massage boots
- Two full bars — both serving the complete craft cocktail menu
- High-speed Wi-Fi throughout the lounge
Private areas: The hearth room, phone nooks, and terrace all offer distinct private-feeling zones. If you're traveling for work or need a conference-style setup, the workspaces and phone nooks have you covered.
Additional services: Full waiter service at your seat — you don't have to get up to order drinks. The staff comes to you.
Food & Drink
Food: This is not airport food. The Centurion Lounge SLC is part of the Culinary Collective by the Centurion Lounge — a partnership with four James Beard Award-winning chefs: Mashama Bailey, Sarah Grueneberg, Kwame Onwuachi, and Michael Solomonov. The buffet rotates but expect dishes like Caribbean wedding soup, farro pilaf, grilled cabbage with tehina and harissa, and Earl Grey panna cotta with gingered apple and maple oat crumble. When we visited, the cold display case had mirin sambal marinated olives with hoisin drizzle, a Slide Ridge honey duo (local Utah honey coconut-carrot puree with a honey wine vinegar apple shooter — yes, a tasting duo), and prosciutto-wrapped asparagus with balsamic glaze. Everything was plated individually like a tasting menu, not scooped onto a plate from a chafing dish.
Drinks: The cocktail program is designed by Bar Director Harrison Ginsberg of Overstory in New York City. Signature cocktails include The Centurion (vodka, yuzu, lime, soda), the Mojave (tequila, peach, jalapeño, lime), the Chamomile Spritz (gin, chamomile, elderflower, vermouth, Suze bitter), and the Sky High (Irish whiskey, Earl Grey tea, vanilla, champagne). Local cocktails include the Campfire Sour (whiskey, grapefruit, cinnamon) and the Park City Sling (gin, tart cherry, lemon, soda). They also have seasonal, brunch, and non-alcoholic options.
My order: The Platinum Mule — bourbon, lemon juice, ginger syrup, and Ume-Shu (Japanese plum liqueur), served on rocks with crystallized ginger candy. One of the best cocktails I've had in any airport, anywhere.
Bar quality: This is a legitimate craft cocktail bar that happens to be inside an airport. The menu reads like something you'd find at a top-tier bar in a major city — because it literally is. Harrison Ginsberg runs Overstory, one of the best rooftop bars in New York. These aren't airport drinks.
How to Get Into This Lounge for Free
The most straightforward way into the Centurion Lounge is with the American Express Platinum Card — it includes complimentary access to all Centurion Lounges worldwide. You just need a same-day boarding pass on any airline.
Other cards that get you in: the Business Platinum Card from American Express, the Centurion Card, and the Delta SkyMiles Reserve Card (when flying Delta). If you're already paying the annual fee on any of these cards, lounge access is essentially free every time you travel.
Unlike Priority Pass lounges, Centurion Lounges are Amex-exclusive — there's no day pass or walk-up option. But if you travel even a few times a year, the Platinum Card pays for itself in lounge visits alone.
