LATAM VIP Lounge at Santiago Airport (SCL) Lounge Guide

The LATAM VIP Lounge at Santiago’s SCL Airport isn’t just good for South America — it’s legitimately world-class.

The entrance alone sets the tone: a long, curving hallway that feels more like a five-star hotel arrival than an airport corridor, with warm wood paneling that breaks up the space without making it feel chopped up.

The central bar anchors everything, lit from above by a dramatic overhead fixture that stops you mid-step. It feels expensive. Because it is.

The food situation here is not airport food.

Think sushi, elevated small plates, and a spread that made us genuinely linger longer than we needed to. Fresh-pressed juices, craft beers, champagne, and wine are all self-serve from a fridge — no waiting, no flagging anyone down.

The staff manages to be warm without being intrusive, which is harder than it sounds. Our guy at the door greeted us like a butler and meant it.

LATAM VIP Lounge, Santiago Airport (SCL) lounge guide

Location

The LATAM VIP Lounge is located in Terminal 2 (International Terminal) at Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport (SCL) in Santiago, Chile. Once you clear immigration and security, head through the duty-free shops, turn left, and take the escalator up to Level 4. Look for the LATAM Lounge signage on the wall — you'll find it near Gates 14 and 15. The lounge is open 24 hours, though the Signature and Premium sections operate 5 a.m. to midnight (until 1 a.m. during Daylight Savings Time).

Review & Overall Experience

Overall Rating: 10 / 10

Anecdotal Thoughts: I've been in a lot of airport lounges. This is the best one I've visited in South America, and it competes with the best anywhere. The space is massive — over 43,000 square feet, making it the largest airport lounge on the continent — but it never feels that way, because the design is smart enough to make every section feel intentional and intimate. The long, curved entrance hallway alone is worth the price of admission.

Ambiance: Sophisticated without being cold. Warm wood paneling runs throughout, breaking up the space beautifully without making it feel like a series of rooms. The central bar area features a dramatic overhead light fixture that anchors the whole lounge. Dark tones, soft lighting, and art installations from South American artists give it a sense of place that most airport lounges completely fail to achieve.

Cleanliness: Immaculate. Not once did I see a table that needed clearing or a counter that needed wiping.

Service: Exceptional. The welcome at the door felt like a butler greeting, not a gate agent scan. Staff were present and attentive without hovering — a genuinely hard balance to strike in a space this size.

Comfort: Multiple seating zones for every mood: dining tables, lounge chairs, sofas, solo seating with side tables and lamps. Plenty of power outlets built into surfaces, plus wireless charging at tables.

Crowding Level: Not crowded during our visit. Despite the volume of international traffic through SCL, the sheer size of the lounge absorbs it well.

Access Requirements

How did I get in?

We accessed the Signature Lounge — the most premium tier — via LATAM Business Class tickets (Class U) on LATAM Flight 502, SCL to MIA. Business class passengers on LATAM international flights get Signature Lounge access automatically.

How can you access the lounge?

  • Signature Lounge: LATAM Business Class passengers on international flights; LATAM Pass Black Signature members; Delta Diamond Medallion members flying LATAM or Delta same day; Oneworld Emerald status (Iberia, JAL, Qantas) flying LATAM
  • Premium Lounge: LATAM Pass Black and Platinum members; Delta Platinum Medallion flying LATAM or Delta same day; Oneworld Sapphire status flying LATAM
  • WorldMember Lounge: Santander WorldMember and WorldMember Limited cardholders flying LATAM or partner flights booked through LATAM
  • Day Pass (Signature): Available for purchase at the door — $80 USD for adults, $30 for children under 12. Cash not accepted.

Priority Pass: Not accepted at any LATAM lounge section at SCL. Priority Pass holders should look for the SkyTeam lounge in Pier E of Terminal 2 instead.

Amenities

  • Full hot and cold food buffet with elevated options including sushi
  • Self-serve bar: champagne, wine, craft beers, fresh-pressed juices — grab from the fridge, no ordering required
  • Multiple distinct seating zones: dining, lounge, solo work, social
  • High-speed Wi-Fi throughout
  • Power outlets and wireless charging built into tables
  • Showers available
  • South American art installations throughout the space
  • Open 24 hours (Signature and Premium sections: 5 a.m. to midnight)

Private areas: The lounge is divided into three distinct sections (Signature, Premium, WorldMember) with separate entry points, so even within a large shared space, each tier feels contained and exclusive.

Additional services: Access is limited to 3 hours, though exceptions are made for passengers with long layovers holding qualifying tickets.

Food & Drink

Food: Genuinely impressive. This is not the sad heat-lamp buffet situation you find at most airport lounges. Sushi, hot dishes, salads, fresh fruit, and a rotating selection of elevated small plates. The quality is several notches above what you'd expect even at a premium lounge.

Drinks: Champagne, wine, and craft beers are self-serve from a refrigerated station — you don't have to wait for anyone or flag anyone down. Fresh-pressed juices were exceptional. There's also a full bar with a bartender for spirits and cocktails.

Bar quality: Top tier. The central bar is a design feature in its own right, with a dramatic overhead installation above it. Local Chilean wines and spirits are well represented.

How to Get Into This Lounge for Free

Unlike most lounges on this site, the LATAM Signature Lounge at SCL does not accept Priority Pass — so the usual credit card hack doesn't work here. Your best path in without a LATAM elite status is to book a LATAM Business Class ticket on an international flight out of Santiago. LATAM frequently runs discounted business class fares on South American routes, and booking with miles (Alaska Mileage Plan miles transfer to LATAM and can be used for LATAM business class) is one of the best ways to get in without paying full fare.

If you just want to experience it without the full business class commitment, a day pass is available at the door for $80 USD — honestly worth it for a long layover in Santiago. Just note they don't take cash.

For Priority Pass holders, the SkyTeam Lounge in Pier E is your SCL alternative. It's decent, has windows with runway views, and accepts Priority Pass. It's not this, but it'll do.
